2025 Chevy Equinox: A Preview of the Gas-Engine Rewrite

2025 Chevy Equinox

The 2025 Chevy Equinox debuts with a revamped exterior design and enhanced technological features, further solidifying its position in one of the most fiercely contested automotive segments.

As General Motors continues its comprehensive lineup overhaul, the arrival of the latest Chevy Equinox marks a significant milestone. With the unveiling of pricing details, it’s evident that despite the extensive updates, the 2025 Chevy Equinox model remains remarkably affordable when compared directly with its predecessor.

It’s important to note a key distinction: the absence of a basic LS model in this iteration means that the 2025 Chevy Equinox does experience a fundamental price increase compared to the baseline price of the 2024 model. However, starting at $29,995, the new front-wheel-drive LT model is only $500 more than its predecessor, hovering just below the $30,000 mark.

At the $29,995 price point, the Equinox LT boasts an impressive array of features, including an expansive 11.3-inch infotainment display and an 11-inch digital gauge cluster. Standard amenities encompass Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, remote start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and adaptive cruise control.

Buyers can then opt for either the sporty RS or the adventure-oriented Active trims, both starting at $34,395 (inclusive of a $1,395 destination charge), with the choice largely hinging on personal preference.

Across all trims, front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available for an additional $2,000. The power train remains consistent with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, generating 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel-drive models are paired with a CVT, while all-wheel-drive variants receive a conventional 8-speed automatic transmission.

Every 2025 Chevy Equinox comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of standard safety features, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors with cross-traffic alert, and a rear seat reminder system. Although pricing information is available, there’s still a bit of anticipation before the Equinox becomes available at dealerships. Expect to see it on lots by mid-June.

Exploring the Interior and In-Car Technology of the 2025 Chevy Equinox

The redesigned interior of the 2025 Chevy Equinox marks a significant departure from its previous iteration, which had become somewhat forgettable. Drawing inspiration from models like the Chevy Trax and Blazer EV, as well as the upcoming Equinox EV, the new interior boasts a striking and modern design. Angular dash contours and distinctive trim pieces, along with turbine-inspired air vents, contribute to a sporty and tech-forward aesthetic.

One notable feature is the translucent plastic trim surrounding the air vents, which varies in color based on the trim level. The Active and RS models stand out with their sharp interiors, featuring contrasting black and tan leatherette upholstery for the former and black and red for the latter. Unique perforated patterns and contrast stitching further enhance the cabin’s appeal.

Standard across all Equinox models is an 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, running Chevy’s user-friendly Google-based interface. Despite its Android-based operating system, seamless integration of Apple Car-play and Android Auto is retained. Chevrolet maintains a balance between digital and tactile controls by incorporating physical buttons and knobs, while the electronic shifter, mounted on the column, offers intuitive operation akin to recent GM products. This design approach shares similarities with Mercedes models from over a decade ago and certain Tesla models.
